The Puzzle
A car owner is very superstitious. He lives in a city where  a combination of Alphabets and Numbers is assigned to car in registration. His only choice was not to have 3 in the car registration number.  Firstly he thought there should very little chance of getting a number with 3 as its odds are only 1 out of 10. If the Format of  registration number is AA DD AA DDDD, where A represents an alphabet from A-Z and D represents a digit between 0 to 9, what is the probability of not getting a number with 3 in its registration number?
Can you update him on chance of having a number without 3 in it?

Please answer in comments section. And try to explain your answer.

Do you dare to try it !!

1 comment:

  1. The possibility of occurrence of any digit except 3 at a single digit place is 9 out of 10 i.e 9/10.
And there are total six digit places, therefore
    (9/10)*(9/10)*(9/10)*(9/10)*(9/10)*(9/10) = 0.5314
In other words we can say that 53.1 4% is the possibility of getting a number plate which does not have digit 3 in it.
